ABOUT THE ARTWORK
'Everything Changes' is the first artwork in the new and growing collection ‘After Rain’, inspired by the transformative effect of rain on the natural world and its metaphorical and metaphysical interpretations. This artwork reflects on change using the example that even a lifeless tree trunk can erupt in new life and be reenergised by the vitality of water. The nutrients of the wood combined with water provide the perfect place for new life to thrive in a different way even though the form seemingly remains the same. This idea carries through in all forms of change in life. Every ending is a new beginning. For something to be created/constructed something must first be deconstructed because matter can't materialise out of thin air. All the material that will ever exist already is, but the forms they take through time can be infinite. I believe that for anything to exist, everything must exist and that that is the purpose of life - for existence to realise itself. So everything will always change as that is the nature of the universe.
